STITC 2013

5th International Workshop on Software Testing in the Cloud
Testing as a Service (TaaS)
Part of the 7th IEEE International Symposium on Service Oriented System Engineering (SOSE 2013)

March 25, 2013; Hotel Sofitel, San Francisco Bay, USA

Cloud computing platforms provide an infrastructure for resource sharing, software hosting and service delivering in a pay-per-use business model. Cloud computing introduces both challenges and opportunities for conventional software testing research and practices. On the one hand, to test the cloud-based software systems, techniques and tools are necessary to address unique quality concerns of the cloud infrastructure such multi-tenancy security, massive scalability, and dynamic configuration. On the other hand, once migrated to the cloud environment, conventional testing techniques can benefit from the various aspects of the cloud such as unlimited resources and parallel computing so that it can greatly reduce testing cost and enhance test efficiency.

STITC 2013 is the 5th workshop on software testing in the cloud. Its particular theme is "Testing as a Service" (TaaS). It was proposed to establish a unified service-based framework to reduce the cost of test design, execution, and maintenance by reusing all test artifacts including test data, tools, and processes. TaaS provides static/dynamic on-demand testing services in/on/over clouds for testers at any time (24/7/365). TaaS might take several forms, including software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and even Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) in a DevOps scenario. The STITC 2013 workshop will explore these various facets of TaaS, from both academic research and practical real-world perspectives.

STITC 2013 invites original submissions in all the areas of TaaS methods, techniques, tools, applications, and experiments for software services. The topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Migrating testing to the cloud
  • Testing of the cloud
  • Cloud-based testing
  • Testing services
  • SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS models of offering TaaS
  • Business models for service-enabled testing strategies

Prospective authors are invited to submit manuscripts reporting original unpublished research and recent developments in the topics related to the workshop. Papers must follow the IEEE double-column format and should not exceed 6 pages (standard extra page policy). At least one of the authors of an accepted paper has to be registered and present his/her paper at the workshop.

All papers must be submitted electronically by the EasyChair system:

STITC History

This will be the 5th international workshop on STITC. Previous workshops have been co-located with events such as the IBM CAS conference and the IEEE ICST conference. Colocation of STITC 2013 with SOSE 2013 brings together communities with common background, interests, and mindset.

See for more information on the STITC series of events.
